young musician of the year 2018
On January 31st the year 11 GCSE music class took part in the Cefn Sidan Rotary club young musician of the year competition. All pupils performed extremely well and should be extremely proud of their achievements. Special congratulations go to Lewis Jarros Reynolds and Grace Philips for splitting the first prize. Da iawn pawb!
more pupils make the grade
Congratulations to Amber Treharne and Oliva Walters both year 10 in successfully passing recent violin ABRSM exams. Olivia passed her Grade 5 and Amber has passed her Grade 3. Both girls are representing Glan Y Mor in the County Senior orchestra which is an excellent achievement for them. Da iawn merched!

Before Christmas three year 9 girls were successful in sitting their ABRSM Flute Exams. Rebecca Lewis, Megan Meredith and Isabel Davies all passed their Grade 2 and Grade 3 exams respectively and we are extremely proud of their achievements. Our thanks go to Mr. Jackson who has worked hard with the girls over the last term to help them reach this endeavour. Da iawn Merched!

Friday 10th November: pwll fundraiser, diplomat hotel, 7pm. (small ensembles)
Tuesday 21st november, 6.30pm, memorial hall (choir)
Wednesday 6th december, christmas celebration, st mary's church, (all musicians)
Friday 8th december, burry port community concert, memorial hall, 6.30pm (choir)
wednesday 20th december, burry port juniors concert (small ensembles)
what a success! Well done to all who helped to raise over £1200 for tenovus cancer care! da iawn pawb!
important: school choir performing this friday 13th october. bethal chapel, pembrey at 7pm. tickets available from the school office. £3 adults £1 children, proceeds go to tenovus cancer charity.
SUMMER FESTIVAL IS BACK!

the music department have just been awarded a silver awrd for the excellent gcse results in 2016. we are now one of the top 13 performing departments in wales!
Pupils receive therapy...musically
Pupils in year 7 have had the great opportunity to receive one to one music therapy sessions with Mr. J Lenander. Mr. Lenander is currently specialising in Music therapy in education and has thoroughly enjoyed working with the pupils of Glan-y-Mor and the pupils involved have developed their confidence greatly. We at Glan-y-Mor wish Mr. Lenander all the very best for his future in music education.

junior and senior choirs performing at burry port carnival fri 27th nov in the memorial hall. Meet at the memorial gardens at 5.45pm. pupils will be free to go after the performance at approx 6.30pm. see you there!
